the dance.

At CHC this morning, the sermon was about the Divine Dance of the Trinity. Pastor Peter quoted C.S. Lewis,

“In Christianity God is not a static thing…but a dynamic, pulsating activity, a life, almost a kind of drama. Almost, if you will not think me irreverent, a kind of dance.”

I want to be part of this dance. God is a consuming fire, something that is life and gives life. Tim Keller, in King's Cross, said, "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are pouring love and joy and adoration into the other, each one serving the other. . . . That’s the dance."

Jesus wants us to be part of this dance because of how much he LOVES us. To do this, we must be centered on others and not ourselves, like each member of the Trinity is. Last week Pastor Paul preached about Jesus' prayer in John 17. He focused on unity and 7 things we can do to have oneness with each other, just as the Trinity is one. Another great Keller quote is, "He must have created us not to get joy but to give it. He must have created us to invite us into the dance, to say: If you glorify me, if you center your life on me, if you find me beautiful for who I am in myself, the you will step into the dance, which is what you are made for. You are made not just to believe in me or to be spiritual in some general way, not just to pray and get a bit of inspiration when things are tough. You are made to center everything in your life on me, to think of everything in terms of your relationship to me. To serve me unconditionally. That’s where you’ll find your joy. That’s what the dance is about." 

I want to be part of this dance. I am constantly learning to center everything I am on Jesus because that is where my true joy will come from. He loves us, He is jealous for us, and He wants us to be centered around Him!  

THINK eternal.

Today in chapel the president of SMF, Andrew Abel, talked about having an eternal perspective in mind. This to me is something that is so challenging to do here on earth. I wish I could say that I am always focused on the Lord and heaven, but I am not.

My challenge for myself this week is to not let the things of the world get to me. I do not want to only focus on the busyness, homework, stress, selfish thoughts, boys, what other people are struggling with, ect. I want to focus on Jesus. When I do that, all the other things seem to come into perspective.

Eternal is- forever, always, never ending.

God's love = eternal.

Jesus' death on the cross is so we could be in eternity with Him.

I am so excited for that day. For that day when Christ will come back. I want my time here on earth, which is short according to James 4, to be focused on what the Lord is doing. I want to see the Lord in the big and the small. He works in such mysterious ways and I love it.
