*I send out updates once a month about my job at Source, living in the Source community, and being on the Annex ministry team. Each one also includes my prayer request and event information. Hello friends,
If I had to use one word to describe the last month, it would be crazy.
One month ago I moved out of
the Annex to a house three blocks away.
Three weeks ago Source put on a Whittier Art Crawl that ten art venues
participated in. One week ago was the 12th Annual Fallout Art Fest. We
also had a group of high school students from South Carolina stay at
Source for an Urban Immersion trip last week. I had the joy of planning
and co-leading their trip. Additionally, there were a few Annex Network
meetings that I led or spoke at. As I look back over all that happened, I
am tired but also in awe.
Amidst the busy month, there were continual reminders of
God's faithfulness and why He brought me to Source. An Annex volunteer
asked me last week, "What is your dream job?" I had to think about it
for a few minutes. I replied, "I have my dream job." I explained that
there are certain aspects of it that I would alter, but not many. I have
a job that I use my passions and skill set at. God is allowing me to be
part of relaunching a program for women coming out of sex trafficking. I
also help volunteers and interns figure out how they can use their
talents to help the oppressed and further God's kingdom. I communicate
to people in multiple ways about an organization that I believe God is
using. I do life with the same people I work with. In my eyes, Source is
not just another nonprofit organization. We are family and with
everything Source does, we are inviting people into the family. Jesus is
using Source to connect people together, create opportunities for
people, and show them there is hope. That is why I have my dream job.
Not only have I had a "job" for the last 15 months, but I have done residential ministry. I lived in the Annex transitional home as a role model. This was something I wanted to do since first hearing about the Annex over three years ago. On June 1, my roommate and I moved out of the Annex and into a house two blocks away that my boss owns. The move took place for many reasons. I will still be involved in the lives of the women who live in the Annex, but in a different capacity. I am really excited to live in a house that I can invite people over to. My hope is that the duplex is a place of rejuvenation for all who come over. There is an extra bedroom at the duplex that we have told the women who live in the Annex they can stay at if they want a night away. I was not expecting to move out of the Annex when I first started at Source, but change is good for me. I often plan things out too much, which is why when change occurs God reminds me that He is faithfully taking me on a journey. I would not trade the last 15 months for anything. God has shown me how He is constantly moving in my life and in the lives of the hundreds of people I have met. Thank you for your prayers, for coming to Source events, supporting me financially, and continually loving me.
