In Christian Thought class, Professor Cree started the first day with a devotional about God receiving the glory in everything that we do. It challenged and changed my view on life. Yesterday was the last class and Cree did a devotional about being humble. Two days prior to the class, God gave me a huge lesson in humility so I think He wanted that lesson to continue. I want to share what he taught us about humility because it is something I need to work on and want others to know about. (Praise the Lord for wise professors who teach Truth).
This list is what Cree said are ways to keep yourself humble:
1. Remember the greatness of God and pray for the grace to tremble before Him. (be honest to Him)
2. Seek to have heart, not just head knowledge of God. (More you know, more you should be growing)
3. Avoid all unnecessary lingo without clearly defining yourself.
4. Always confess immediately when you don't know something.
5. Seek to believe only what you can prove from Scripture.
6. Never despise simple things, like the simple Gospel.
7. Always thank the people who taught you something new, especially if it was a correction.
8. Read old stuff, it will humble you.
9. Never speak or trifle with spiritual realiites especially about hell (aka...spiritual jokes are not very funny)
10. Understand that good theology ought to lead to good doxology. (More you know, more you want to praise)
